Misfire, idle smooth
«

Coming home this evening, literally 100 yards from my house, I suddenly get a misfire in my 1.8T. Engine wont rev and sounds rough. But it ldles smoothy and doesn't stall.
Crank sensor, coil pack? Help me diagnose please.

Scan for fault codes and also look at measuring blocks...... why guess if you can get an indication of fault through codes?

Alas a scanner is something I had always intended to buy, maybe next time. For now though I need possible causes to look at when I'm sitting at home tomorrow cause I wont be going to work now.

Fixed - an ignition coil had failed.
