injector replacement
« on: 05 March 2014, 22:51 »
How long would it take for a garage to change the injectors and fuel lines on a v6 4motion roughly? There are no fault lights showing but car isn't running too great and thought I might be aswell changing them.

If the car isnt runing great just replace every single component on the car without checking what the actual fault is. May as well. Thats the easiest thing to do

Cheers, the reason I was wondering about changing the injectors was because I was given carb redEx instead of injector stuff and since then it has unsurprisingly run like crap. I was told by the garage to run through a fresh tank of petrol to flush it out, but I thought I heard the injectors popping when I put the foot down, and the car doesn't seem to be going any better. I just thought changing the injectors might be a bit of a short cut to getting it running well again as I don't do a lot of miles and it would take quite a while for the petrol to work its way through.

if you can get it hooked up to vagcom, im sure there is a block for testing the injectors.

Personally, I wouldn't think the fuel lines would be affected. I would stay away from fuel cleaners on these types of VAG motors.

Get it scanned for codes etc as a 1st step and then see what is needed.

Thanks guys, I'm working away at the moment so I'll try and get it checked out before I do anything more to it. And I'll definitely steer clear of petrol additives in future!
