Sounds like any warranty you may have remaining will be with the respective Nissan Dealer and not VW, and is about to expire? The manufacturers standard warranty from new is 3 years or 60000 miles. Unless this was extended at some point then this no longer applies.
Excluding warranties VW was offering what is known as a Goodwill Gesture to those affected by the timing chain failure but there is no consistency in how much goodwill they would offer and it's very much on a case by case basis. What I do know is that 'brand loyalty' and age of vehicle is taken into consideration when assessing goodwill, so if the car has been serviced elsewhere or has galactic mileage they may not contribute as much.
Unless you have a good relationship with a particular dealer (I'm sure there are good ones) then they are best avoided in these situations, you'll most likely be dicked over and afterwards wonder why you paid £100 + per hour to be told how grateful you should be that VW can't cough up fully for a design defect.
