Rear wiper connections

I have just purchased a 1989 16v GTi and the rear wiper doesnt work. Having looked into it, I only have a single outlet on my washer bottle pump, and underneath the header tank there seems to be another multi-connector and a very thin hose that aren't connected to anything.

So my question is, how should my rear wiper be connected? Should it run off the washer bottle using a twin outlet pump or is there a separate reservoir and pump for the rear wiper? What is the connector and thin pipe meant for?

Your pic link doesnt work. There is only on resivoir and a 3 port pump serving both front and rear washers

Fog light plug is under header tank.

Does anyone have a photo of the same area on their car so I can see what it should look like? No experience with golfs yet. Mine is an '89 16v

Sounds like you need a twin outlet washer pump and to connect the loose pipe you have to the extra port on the new pump.

This does require a very minor bit of wiring as the connector is different.

This is what you're missing, including the short length of tube attached (that fits onto the hard line to the rear in your pic)
