Just spent the time and read through this so a little slow on commenting.

As others have said, sorry the GTI didn't work out, but it's for the best with the R.

It just makes me worry about buying a demo, and what they've done to it which I won't know about. I'll have to inspect every panel with a fine tooth comb.

And I think that R-Line estate looks the sh!t. Sadly, they've forgotten to add fog lights on until the last minute and stuck some horrible things on.

From my very recent experience, it's not just the demos that you need to watch out for!!

Have they just stuck your old GTI up for sale? Some poor sod is going to end up getting that. Sad really, as they probably will notice too far down the line.

The original MK4 Golf R32 was the most raw and special feeling Racing Golf in my eyes ......
Bespoke and over-engineered parts for the original, thats what I miss about every R32/R Golf after that..... none of them feel as unique compared to their GTi counterparts.
But this is the way Volkswagen had to go from a marketing and profit making prespective and I totally understand that.

The original R32 had pretty expensive parts and some were even bespoke just for that car.

Steering wheel
Door sills
Handbrake, Gear stick and Pedals
Koenig bucket seats
Mats
Seabring Exhaust System
High performance floating brake disc system with blue callipers
H&R springs
Blistein shocks
18" Alloy wheels
Deep Blue paint

Right back on topic after my trip down R32 memory lane...... the new Golf R is going to be a very awesome car point to point and if it wasnt for the fact I own a R32 too and that I do high mileage... I may have opted for a Golf R too.

You guys are very lucky and will love them every bit as much as I love my R32

Not yet as it's still in my name until my private reg is back on retention, i think they're sending it back to the bodyshop to improve the poor original job before selling it on so i would hope it'll look a bit better before it's sold,

At the risk of flogging a dead horse, adaptive cruise control is an option on the irish configurator so it stands a chance it's standard on the R in the UK as it's an option on the GTI in Ireland as wel.

I can't believe how much my opinion on it has changed! It's an excellent system and so intuitive, just a shame the sensor is so prominent.
