Gearbox stub axle oil seal

My mates 1.8t has decided to push the oil seal out a little which has caused the oil to leak out of the gear box.

How easy is it to replace the seal?

The big black seal on the passenger side?

That means the bearing seat is goosed, box needs a rebuild.

Is his clutch pedal dropping an inch or two as well?

Its on the drivers side, The seal behind the drive shaft flange.
The pedal doesn't drop but you can feel a bit of vibration on it.
