engine component identification

hi guys, i have recently brought an 8v 2.0 gti. and looking under the bonnet came across something iv not seen before. its a pumo/resevoir looking thing with a pin in it tht is sticking out...i can push it in and then it comes out again slowly. its directly behind the immboliser box thing. any ideas?

That will be your low brake fluid reservoir sensor,there should be a little plastic cap that sits on top to hold the stick down,they often come off,you can upgrade the cap for a polo yellow one as it has the same connector.

ok nice one. does it just mean the brake fluid is low?

No mate  if your fluid is low it will bring a light on the dash,you can use it as is,or just get a new cap ,up to you fella  :wink:
