Process of coolant change?

My rad hoses are shot on my vr so bought new samco hoses

I am going to replace the oil cooler, water pump and expansion bottle at the same time, hoping the rad is not shot

Do I need deionised water when refilling after flushing all the block and matrix with a hose?

Try not to round off the water pump bolts, I think there are 3 that hold the water pump, if you slip, it'll make things alot hard, as I have experienced in the past, apart from that, good luck :cool:

Use  VW G 12 Coolant.

Im sure you need to undo a mount or 2 and raise the engine up to remove the pump?

removal of the oil cooler is easy as, make sure you have newspaper down for obvious reasons  :smiley:

What he said ^^
First remove your air box and aux/serpentine belt. Take the bolt out of the rear, driver side engine mount, put a block of wood between your jack and your sump and jack the engine at the driver side about 4-5 inches, don't worry, the sumps are steel and won't bend  :huh: :wink:
This should give you enough clearance to remove the water pump  :cool:

Ahh so no undoing the front mount then :smiley:

Will be doing mine when I can be bothered  :grin:

On a related note can you get metal propeller pumps? Even worth it? I know they are an important upgrade on E36 bimmers
