1.8t clutch

So tonight went to pull away under vey light acceleration and when changing to second the pedal didn't come back up. Now my question is, are our gti clutches cable or hydrolic? As if its cable I'm guessing new cable happy days. But if hydrolic then it could be several things from cylinder to pipes.

Not the best couple of weeks but hey these things happen I guess.

Hydraulic mate
Well they are on the AUM don't think the arz is different
Works off the bottom of the brake fluid bottle.

Check you brake fluid is topped up as your clutch feeds from the bottle above where your brakes do so it will fails before your brakes.
Also You will see a small hydraulic pipe on top of your gearbox check for any leaks around there.

Hydraulic for ARZ too. I would try bleeding the slave cylinder ontop of the gearbox and make sure it is not leaking. I found this on a golf a couple of weeks ago and had to replace the slave.

I saw a thread on mkiv that said that pedals snap on the weld and that when this happens it stays on the floor. I'm going to go investigate in a min, as the parts place will close midday I imagine.

If the pedal snapped youd know about it. I.e a crunch and bits of plastic all over the footwell.

As said check the slave, could just be a bit of air in the system.

The little crappy square snapped. Couldn't get a replacement so had it welded back together and bought the plastic parts from VW as they were in stock. Got the plastic on the ball joint and then attached to the pedal. But for today ran out of time to get the spring in. My god that is a tough part.

Roll on trying again tomorrow.

Done. But it is a PITA to get the spring seated.
