If your budget is a bit smaller, you could go for a compact Manfrotto for £40:

with a weight limit of 1.5Kg you're limited to entry level bodies and the smaller lenses so depends what you're shooting with.

My Alpha 350 with Sigma EX 28-70 f2.8 lens (which is my walkabout lens) weighs about 1.3kg and even my longer zoom doesn't weigh much more. I could probably even get away with adding a flash.

My brother has this tripod and has used it with his Canon 7D with both a Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS USM and a Sigma 10-20mm.
So it can put up with a decent sized camera.
Fair enough if you're gonna put on a long/heavy lens or do lots of panning, you might want something different, but they're good small tripods from a good manufacturer.
