Brake hoses
« on: 02 July 2005, 14:51 »
16v just failed MOT today!!!

Needs flexible hoses and track rod ends, so its not too bad!!

Is it worth putting braided hoses rather than standard rubber ones???

If so where do I get them and whats the approx cost??? My local factors don't do braided!!

Cheers folks

Euro Car Parts do the braided kits (16v - 6 line kit), and the TRE's. All in all it should set you back about £80. Just remember to spray the old hose fittings with a bit of WD40 before trying to undo them, otherwise they may be a bugger to get off.

PLUS use a proper pipe spanner to remove them, otherwise you'll round them off, then your in the poop.

TRE - Track Rod End, sorry. And you'll need a 6 line kit if your 16v has rear discs (I think I'm right), it's only a couple of quid difference, but you're going to have to change the fluid, so why not change all 6 at the same time.

TRE - Should have guessed!!!

Yeh it has got rear discs, so I'll need the 6 line kit.

Cheers for help.

and the spanner you need is called a claw foot, trust me this is indespensible when it comes to brakes, think vw ones are 11mm but they come in a combination 10/11mm anyway
