S3 rears

honestly they're turd even on the road

a few downhill tight corners in close succession and the pedal becomes as soft as hell and you can feel the brakes just slipping

i had mine fade the other day not drying hard, well within the speed limit etc


round the town they're fine but if you ask a few stops from them close together they can't handle it

Your brakes must be knackered too. Your car has many mods, why not the brakes or have I missed something?

In the past in my youth I used to change the brakes and suspension before I started on the tuning. This was usually cos the car was old and knackered to start with

I agree that after asking something of the standard brakes that they start being less than suitable especially on a mapped car.

But as for fading after being used under normal driving and within the speed limit?? I can only imagine that people are used to better more aggressive brakes or are expecting more of the standard items. Or don't know what brake fade is =p

Mines stage 2 and 75% of the time they are totally acceptable. Otherwise not so good haha.

* back on topic though roughly how much dollar are you looking at for s3 rears with standard discs??

Just a bit of an update on the brakes now they have bedded in nicely  

At 1st I had what felt like it was just braking on the front or there was air in the system still, but now they have been on for just over a week and covered about 300 mile and a bit of spirited driving in between    they are absolutely spot on, nice and progressive and if you want to stop quickly they will pull your face off and stop you instantly and very controlled, ABS and hill hold etc still works perfectly fine,
I thought with just the 6 pots on the front and standard rears they were spot on but now they are phenomenal   very pleased with the end result and will see how they perform at Cadwell next Wednesday night,
The braking upgrade to back and front give so much more confidence, it's made a great car into a brilliant car IMO

The brakes on the GTI are shocking and if I was keeping it longer I'd be getting rid for sure.
