S3 rears
« on: 31 July 2012, 06:51 »
After wearing my rear brakes down to nothing & got sick of the sight of the rusty hubs,
I decided I'd get some discs to match the VWR fronts and upgrade at the same time for a better brake balance, got this refurbed set up off the Guru DaveB on the other forum,
Getting them fitted today so will sort a few piccies out later

Nice one Neil. I thought you had been up to something as you have been quiet on here of late

The brakes will not only look the part but will hopefully make a noticeable improvement.

The rusty hubs used to drive me potty.

Not been about much cos been busy busy at work,
Got em fitted today and they look the part now, got a bit more pedal travel than before  will give em a couple of days to bed in and maybe get em re bled ?

He was a nightmare to pin down took nearly 2 months to get em but they are top quality for refurbs, he even machined the S3 discs with grooves to match the fronts

Will have to wait and see a bit spongy at the mo
Only done about 10 mile on em tho

A couple of crappy iPhone pics, they look small in the pics but really look the part in the flesh

today again reminded me how poor the GTI brakes are.

do you not need to reset something with VCDS to allow for new pads and hill hold assist?

standard brakes are very poor especially when remapped, was the 1st thing I changed after adding more power,
Would like to know a bit more about the vagcom option

Very nice!
