Smell of Petrol
« on: 27 June 2012, 20:38 »
Hi all.
Picked up my GTI Non Turbo yesterday and love it! However, there is a smell of petrol/fumes coming into the cabin and under the bonnet. Performance doesn't seem to be afftected. I've read it could be the pipe to the charcoal unit. Can anyone point me in the direction of this and advise me as to what it does please. Also any other ideas of whats causing this would be most appreicated. Thanks :D

Check this thread - may be of some use. Check the pipes to and from this canister - -

Hi guys. I found the source of the smell. It was 3 absoultley shagged out breather pipes full of holes and perishments. You could actually stick you finger right the way through some of them. I will upload some pics in a minute. Thanks for the advive :)
