16V MK3 IDLE VALVE

Hello everyone having problem's with the idle stablistation valve my mates one has 12.3 volts when engine is hot my gti has only .5 volts if i take the electric part of and work the plunger by hand as someone starts the car everything is fine has anyone had this problem before  its now driving me nuts all help with thank's :cry:

Hi kawabill ,
Check fuse 15, you should have 12v at one of the terminals in the idle control valve plug(black wire). If you don't, check the wiring especially the multi plug on the engine harness. The other wire goes to the ECU which pulses the earth to regulate the idle speed. The idle valve should have a resistance of 3.5 to 5 ohms.

Thank's Steve the wire was broken where it goes through the bulkhead to the ecu working fine now ta
