I just thought it would help to know the extent to which he's going, an itemised list is not what I would ask for but rather a type of rebuild, i.e. standard or forged internals. Considering the rods are the weakest part and is typically the only part most members upgrade while they just refurbish the rest of the engine, so unless you mean he intends to go the whole hog i.e. tfsi crank on 83mm forged pistons and quite literally everything possible then I can understand but it's just not everyday someone does that. It's also important to ask because whilst some machine shops will take on the job they will not source aftermarket parts which they would not warrant themselves, so would be left to the customer to source himself.
Just to add many would consider my engine to be a complete rebuild, because every part has been replaced and service, but not everything is forged and it's still standard displacement.
