AUM limp mode
« on: 29 April 2012, 20:52 »
Had a problem for a month or so tried a few things but still cant diagnose it

basically my car was running fine until I took a trip up and down the m4 to pick up some new alloys. It was quite a spirited drive and sometime on the way back the engine suddenly went into limp mode with a 'boost pressure limit exceeded' code :(

I have a code reader so I cleared it but every now and then it goes back into limp mode, I can clear it and it runs fine for a while but it always comes back and I know this isn't right. I have checked all my boost/vacuum pipes and they all seem fine, and have fitted a new n75. The new n75 I fitted was the ECS race valve which since fitting I have read some bad things about but as the car was going into limp mode before fitting this and it doesn't seem any worse than before I don't think its this

My car is a mk3 AUM conversion, SAI n112 n249 deleted and stage 1 mapped

anyone have any ideas what to check next? I don't know anything about the actuator so not sure what to check to see weather that's working or not, and I don't have a boost gauge yet

any help or advice appreciated cheers :)

I'm thinking it must be something that happened on the long drive, it was pretty late so I did boot it a bit and had the engine on boost for quite a while at a time. Could this of damaged the actuator or anything?

What code does it come up with?

Could be a duff MAP sensor or the wiring harness.

What Scott said - what exact code did you get and have you thought of trying a new MAP sensor if not sure of code.
I would try getting it logged properly on VCDS.

didn't actually think of map sensor

I think it was 17963 Boost Pressure Control: Upper Limit Exceeded, but would have to double check I'll have a look later if I hit limp when I'm out and about

whats the charge pressure control? n249?
