Car boot Challenge!
« on: 07 February 2012, 18:48 »
So I discovered I made another amateur mistake by wrapping the RCA leads and the Amp remote wire with the live wire....so Today I removed the RCA and Amp remote wire so now the live wire is laying on its own...just need to trim it as there is a bit to much excess.

So that's one thing off the list, I then found the Amp remote was going to a red wire, don't ask why, but I'l find out which one its suppose to go to when I re-fit the RCA leads and Remote wire, going to run these wires down the drivers side as the live wire is down the passengers side.

I've found some thickish speaker wire so I'm going to be using that between the Amp and the 6x9's that have replaced the standard speakers in the rear door cards.

Here's a idea of how its going to be wired up, I want to solder the wires this time so any tips on that would be great.

From the Head unit I'l have:

Standard wire and speakers in the top of the dash.
Standard wire and speakers in front door cards.
Standard wire and tweeters in the rear door cards.

From the Amp:
Decent wire and 6x9's in rear door cards.

if anyone can suggest otherwise with out spending then I'm all ears

...Quoted from my project thread but thought it might be a good idea to post it here too.

So you want to run the front speakers from the headunit and the rears from the amp? Why are you using 6x9's in the door cards? Can you not amp the whole system?  Or better still run the fronts from the headunit and use the amp to run a sub.

That is the plan yes...well that's what I have been running but just poorly...its not really a 'door' card as mines a 3dr.

So are you suggesting running nothing from the HU but run 4 speakers 2 6x9s and 2 tweeters from the Amp?

I used to have a sub but I need the boot space, so until I do a real boot build and put the sub in the spare wheel well then I'm going without.

Are you running separate mids and tweeters or is it component set up? 6x9s in rear are wasted as they are firing across each other.

I see your point about the 6x9s firing across each other but I've already adapted the door cards to hold them...

the tweeters are the ones fitted by vw.

The tweeters will take a signal from the stock speaks - so don't need separate wiring.

Amp the front and rears.

Yeah the tweeters are still wired in as they were originally, I've just removed the rear speaker and replaced it with a 6x9...

Well turns out I've only got enough wire to wire the 6x9s to the amp, so I'l have to make do with that for the time being, but will get some more and wire in the front door speakers to the amp too
