Stereo Install/No more central locking....
« on: 16 January 2012, 13:04 »
   Ok, opted for a new H/U and bought all the gubbins...ISO adapter, aerial adapter/boost etc and off we went. Easy peasy. Got out of the car, went to lock the door and nothing, sod all, zip, bugger all!! WTF is wrong with these VW's.....Unplugged it all and hey presto, it is all back.
Strange to say the least.
If i don't use the ISO adapter and swap the wires, yellow/red...red/yellow, the stereo doesn't even work. Old Sony XPlod just in case it makes a difference.

cut the blue wire in the sony iso plug loom problem solved
what its doing is keeping the k line live therefore preventing the remote locking from working

the red and yellow must be joined together thats the only way it will stay live
on a mk4 golf you need to join the yellow to the red and then the red to the yellow you'll see what i mean when you look at the sony loom
your loom will look like this

as you can see it the red and yellow are bulleted connections

Yes i understand that. I have switched the wires around. The red is on yellow, the yellow is on red and the blue is now chopped. I have central locking and windows and a stereo BUT it is always on and won't turn off with the ignition meaning a manual turn off when i leave the car. Fine if i remember but if i forget, i have a flat battery.
