I know this is an old thread but I never got round to fitting these,
I was going to fit them over the holidays but then found this, not so sure now, anyone want to buy a spare set of jacking points..  :undecided:

This is supposedly a quote from VW:  Only to be used when lifting the entire vehicle using a floor lift. When used together they distribute the weight of the vehicle over the four points. If you use only one at a time, you are putting too much weight on one point and may bend the floor pan.
Does anyone know if this is true?

I've used Mine lots of times now. Jacking just the front or just the rear and not had a problem at all with the floor pan.

Yes it is sort of. The problem is when people jack it too high and end up lifting the entire side of the car up. Or are not carefull placing the  jack so the entire pad takes the weight rather than just one sectiion of it. Also you cannot easy lift it using a U shaped jack pad as this causes issues to lifting forces.

better than using the death trap scissor jack and having it fall over. got a nice big dent in the rocker panel the last time I used the OEM one. Will use these jack points from now on thanks...

yep i would never use the widow maker unless in dire need.

i use a trolley jack and block of wood on the reinforced sill under the arrows to lift the car and use the jacking pads as axle stand locations. or you can use the rear control arm bushing as an axle stand location.

to jack the rear of the car up you need to lift the front end up really high to get the rear of the car off the ground at the same time, as there isn't enough room to get both a jack and a stand on the rear of the car. stupid design.
