What parts do I need ????
« on: 08 January 2012, 23:23 »
Right I'm looking for about 300 bhp to 330bhp out of my agu 1.8turbo golf and I'm just looking at the bits that I will need to do this:
So far I have a vr6 clutch set up
3inch turbo back exhaust with de cat
Cold air induction
I'm going to he purchasing
fmic
Audi tt 225 injectors with rail
Samco boost hose set
T4 rep turbo with exhaust manifold
Adjustable fuel pressure regalator
A remap by RTec the £390 one for bigger turbos
Is this all I need  If not please point me in the right direction

I head that the stock internals are good for 350 before they start to bend rods ????

Yeah you would just about be alright but you would be running it at the limit so risky.

Would also need the vr6 maf housing, a 255lph fuel pump and some bigger brakes!

Torque kills rods not BHP.

I've seen rods bend at 285lb-ft whilst others seem to survive over 300lb-ft. A bit of a lottery.

If you are spending the money though I'd do the internals to be safe.

dont understand how people can keep making the same statement "rods are good for 300bhp bla bla bla"

each individual set of rods are going to be different from wear etc no matter how many miles are on them!!

not a dig dude  for some reason that statement just pushes my buttons

but likes been said

*fuel pump
*new forged internals (personally)
3" maf

what cc are the 225 injectors?

Just fittings rods and new bearings would be fine. No need to knife edge and it'll save you removing the crank.

TT injectors might get you to 300bhp but anything over you'll want 550's really. Will give you room to get upto 350bhpmif you ever decided.

Rods are being run on 300+ cars, but I've also rebuilt engines on a stage 1 260bhp that bent a rod. Really not worth the risk of running on stock, cos I guarantee one will bend when you least cpect it.

From experience just fit the rods......
