OOH ER!!!! Dodgy stock speakers!
« on: 03 May 2005, 23:46 »
Ok as the title suggests, my stock speakers in my MK2 Golf are sh1te!
(7W Peak handling!)
I've recently bought and fitted a JVC Cassette headunit with a 12disc changer mounted under the passenger seat, simple job, took 20 mins.  All working fine, except, the stock stereo's output was 2x 3Watts.
This runs at 4x40Watts.  I can't crank the stero !
Suggestions on a speaker setup for less than 50-75?
The only constraint is that I can't have a sub or parcel shelf mouted speakers as I am a drummer and I have a large drum kit, which only just fits in without the parcel shelf and rear seats folded up. Hence the lack of sub and parcel shelf speakers.
Any suggestions on places to go In Reading / Berks for reasonable gear at sensible prices.

Thanks!

I have a pair of Infinity 3052CF Refernce series coaxial speakers that will fit in the dash to replace the stock 3.5 inch ones.
25W RMS.  75W peak

Hardly used.  Boxed.

£25 + P+P

Cheers
Dave

you can always fit 13cm speakers in the front doors using the adapters too. If  you have a pre-88 mk2 you'll need to source a set of pockets from a 88 onwards mk2. 3dr and 5dr have the same pockets btw.

if you're feeling flush you can get audioscape pods that will take a 17cm speaker that'll give you much better mid-range sound.

alpine do a SWD-1600 that'll fit under your seat and give you some bass. it's only little so works best in coupés.

a good excuse for not having a sub but heres two words for u...

STEALTH BOX!!!!

It would take up the not all that useful space at the side of the boot and make your audio sound so much better!

Get components for the front thought!

thats the best mk3 ive seen..ever! its just clean and subtle..

Nice Idea Golfpro, but the trouble with that is, you haven't seen the size of the drumkit! All, and I mean ALL of the bootspace is taken up, I even had to remove the spare wheel!
