Why out of interest what were you getting?

low 40's day to day and struggled to get high 40's on a run

That's the lovely DPF pipe for you    I'm averaging high 40's over the course of a tank

do you drive everywhere downhill?    and have you worked out your REAL MPG i.e. from tank to tank rather than relying on the computer

I do know how 2 work out real mpg & i'm not going 2 say i get high 50's if its not getting that.

Considering the poor ecconony, DPF and injector issues, my money would go on a newer 140 and a cheeky remap.

The only visual difference between the 140 and 170 is the exhaust. A lower vallance and a Milltek will soon address that issue it it would bother you.
