help needed...not starting
« on: 16 October 2011, 20:28 »

right guys,
summary is auto electrician has ripped all the problematic old alarm and immob out, had to replace the ignition switch after he had finished but she turns over and fuels but no spark. dizzy is fine, coil is fine there even seems to be a slight voltage getting to the coil (whether its enough is a different matter) but it isnt sparking at all, sensors have all been replaced as have the problematic ecu relay, ive checked what i can of the loom behind the glovebox and below the steering wheel but cant see anything odd there.
electrics is my weakest area so any ideas would be greatly appreciated

get him back to fix the problem.  Sounds like you've possibly lost the switched live feed?  Does the dash/stereo work?

Sorry to hijack dude...

I have a similar problem with my 96 8v:

Drove though a puddle round a blind bend, died. Started eventually but bogged a lot, got 100 yards down road to layby, died, wont start now.

Fuel pump primes and cuts off
Spark out of the coil
No spark at the plugs

So im right in thinking its the hall sender / dizzy?

New crank sensor by previous owner.....

Any help muchly appreciated as im commuting on the trials bike in the morning

PS id start a new thread but too many ''wont start threads'' will give some people a minor stroke.

you shouldn't be touching the king lead with anything but a spark plug.....

get a Haynes manual and follow the electrical diagrams.  Work out where you have 12v with ing on, and find the missing link.
