Great job mate...
This is getting me excited to work on mine... can't wait...
questions..
- did you have to swap the mic connectors for RCD510 on the wiring loom as showed on the pdf manual on the previous posts?
- voice control works on RCD510??...
- was the length of bluetooth wire btween module and radio sufficent?
to answer your question earlier, no I was not bidding 10 days ago..haha
My mic wire was already wired like the PDF diagram for the RCD510 but yes make it the same as the PDF and you will be fine.
You can voice dial people - you can use the DIS to tag recorded voice statements to peoples names. It will also make its best guess and give you a list of suitable people to dial. It also has commands for A2DP media play back i.e. if you press the Mic button the steering wheel and say "Music" and "Play" it starts my Galaxy S2s sound player and starts playing my ringtones. via the A2DP. Now this is where it gets interesting as I found that if I stop the media player and start vlingo on the phone It will then read me text messages/email I receive and I can use the navigate functionality from google maps/vlingo app. How cool is that. Its a little clunky but can work. Only problem with that is that you cannot listen to the radio/media/cd as you are supposed to be listening to A2DP music. I think if you then switch back to radio/cd/media it will I think ask you to enable bluetooth A2DP when a text is received (on the radio that is) as if it detects the bluetooth audio attempting to be streamed at it.
The bluetooth module cable is more than long enough to go from the radio bay along the dash, along the sill and under the seat with a small coil under the seat. The mic wire needed about 10 cms more as it dragged the cable into the radio bay a little. Although I think if spent the time ripping out the a pillar trim then it is more than long enough.
The only thing that bugs me at the moment is the fact the radio cant dial from the phone book as the numbers are all jibberish yet the DIS works fine. I am thinking that the newer 2011 RCD510's might have newer firmware for decoding the newer 2011 bluetooth module. Need someone to scan there RCD510 mine is

Although I have to admit I never looked at the coding of the radio (yet).
Also what I want to do is stop my samsung from loading the music player when commanded by the car over the bluetooth and load vlingo by default, but I have no idea how. Maybe gonna have to write my own app to intercept the command.
