wifi password
« on: 16 July 2011, 20:47 »
i have sky which gives me a netgear router and i am unable to connect to the wifi on this router because i cant get the pasword so i need a bit of help.
when i first got my laptop i tried to go wireless but i could not log in using the ssid and the network key printed on the bottom of the router. my aunties husband came round and sorted it out but eventually it packed in and i used the cable to connect to the router. i have a new phone that has wifi on it so i want to use my sky router to connect to the internet but it comes up with a different ssid to what is printed on the bottom of my router and the password printed on the router doesnt work either so i cant connect  . is their a way of finding the password so i can connect using wifi
cheers

There should be a reset button on the router some were press it or google the router to find out how to reset to factory default.

you should then be able to log in  with the ssid and password on the serial tag under the router. then log in to your router and change its password etc to something personal etc for security reasons cus come bright spark will know factory defaults of routers and log in to yours outside your house

I had the same thing. Contacted Sky and they ran me through it whilst I was on the line. You will have to plug into the router, and they will give you an ip adress, then run you through the options to change the ssid and password.

Internet Explorer, go to 192.168.0.1

Username is: Admin
Password is : sky

Look on the left for wireless settings. Find the WPA or WEP code and write it down. Close the browser.

Once you have logged in the router change the router password & your wifi password, much easier to remember your own passwords :)
