mk1 golf speedo clocks

im woundering if i can put the set of clocks in my mk1 golf with the rev counter built into them asfor the set i took out had a clock i would like to do this asfor i am now running a 1.8 20vt is it as simple as just swapping clocks over

there is a couple of threads on here with wiring for the mk1 clocks to mk2 clocks that show what wires do what, you maybe able to use that to help you rj gives some useful links

I didn't even understand that!  :grin:

I get what clocks yours had, sh*t ones, are you looking to put MK1 GTI clocks in and make them work with your engine?

mk1 gti clocks (with the rpm counter) is a straight swap. just connect the red/black wire in the engine bay to your coil (or what ever produces the signal for the tach.)

Not sure how straightforward that is considering it's a 20vt???

depends how the signal for the tach is produced on the 20vt (which i;'ve no idea, i'm guessing its not a coil  :grin: )
