Gti Indicator problem
« on: 25 June 2011, 23:36 »
The indicators have packed in on my car and not sure what to do.
They have been a bit trouble some this last couple of weeks in they stop working but i found if i waggled the stalk up and down fast they started working again but now that doesn't fix them. Even the hazard lights have stopped working. The button just lights up when pressed but doesn't flash but when i trigger the alarm the indicators flash as normal.

Is it just the stalk thats at fault or could it be the relay or something worse??

Cheers

I have changed the indicator stalk now and no different.

Fuse is next on the list tomorrow from VW. Is it relay #191?

Also the airbag light is now on because i had to take the steering wheel off - how is it reset??

Edit : Run Vagcom on it, you'll be able test the airbag system on that and it'll turn the warning light off if there's no faults.

Defo sounds like flasher relay ,as for the air bag fault, light should go out after its self check regardless if the wheel has been off ,recheck the connector to the bag.

sorted the indicators, it was just the relay but the airbag light is still on. I have checked the clip underneath the cowl for the airbag wires and seem perfectly fine.
