Has anyone pulled the airbox on a 1990 16v apart to find it clagged up with oil off the K&N??? I noticed mine the other day was all yellow from the oil - any ideas what sort of change it will make to the general running of the car if I give a good clean out???

Also wondering if anyone fancied modifiying the airbox to have 2 air intakes?? I know loads of people drill the airbox, I sealed mine back up!! But what about if you were to say drill a 2'' opening in the side of the airbox and "pipe" in extra air form the front (cold air) of the engine bay??? it will be sort of like and induction kit!!!

Any ideas on the sort of gains/drawbacks that might be made??

Cheers

clean airfilter will obviously help the car

as for your extra intake hole it will just give added induction noise

I disconnect the engine breather from the air box and place it on top of the chassis leg. I don't want my K&N clogged up with gunge and I figure that the oil will seep into the leg and help to prevent corrosion. That's my theory anyway.

I did a similar mod. I plugged up the warm feed on the back that goes to the manifold then removed the flap inside that closes the intake pipe on the front. then i ran a cold feed pipe from the gap next to the fog lights. This way your getting no hot air and a good cold air feed without excesive noise. Like you i had a drilled box and swapped it for a new undrilled one. It did have a nice induction noise but i must be getting old and wanted something quiter.
