steering issues
« on: 13 June 2011, 15:01 »
so, in anticipation of my coilovers arriving, i went out yesterday, jacked the car up, and wd40 all the relevant bolts to hopefully make life easier. i drove the car last night and this morning, and im having weird play through the steering wheel, and lots of pulling to the left. it feels like the tracking is out my miles.

ive checked for play in wheels, but havent looked at ball joints, bushes etc.
anyone experienced anything similar, or advice?

Where abouts did you jack the car from?
You may have bent something if you jacked in the wrong place

jacked it on the sill, with the scissor jack from the boot. and then put her on axle stands at the jacking point, the cars been wax oiled and sealed, and is pretty perfect underneath. i cant imagine that i have bent anything.

im starting to think im just being a bit paranoid. i do have a snapped spring at the back, which may not be helping . . . :undecided:

Did you change a wheel? Check tyre pressures

Or If you had any work done track rod ends, wheel bearing on front, bottom ball joints, clutch etc.. its worth getting the thing laser aligned by some place that know what there doing.

If you removed the wheel, Have you torqued the wheel bolts back up ?   Why not jack the car back up and have a look, it will soon become obvious if somethings broken....
