power steering problem
« on: 30 May 2011, 13:43 »
Just noticed my power steering intermittently loses power on corners for a few minutes after starting up  then seems to be ok after a while.

The fluid level is ok. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks Luke

If the fluid is old it could be worth changing it.Also there is a fairly common problem of the belt slipping when the weather is a bit wet.

If it was me i would change the fluid, check the tension on the p/s belt or if it doesnt tlook very good just replace it.Tis a simple job.
Then it would be time to start looking at the pump.

Sounds like the belt is slipping, check and adjust the tension
