Replacing cd player in golf mk4 gti
« on: 10 May 2011, 11:44 »
In my 2000 mk4 gti, i have a cd player type thing on the top along with the controls for radio, bass etc and also a tape cassette deck.

So, if i wanted to install my cd player that i already have, i would obviously swap that for the radio tape deck, what then would i use to fill the gap once ive taken the standard cd player/entry out???

I have seen a good price on some cd players with those 6'' screens too, So would there be any extra trim id need to put in to fill gaps etc?

also, do you need any particular aerial adaptors etc when making the change?

If anyone has any pics that would also be very helpful too

cheers

Yes you would remove both and fit your radio in one of the slots and in the other one u can install a cubbyhole hole as such. Depending on the radio you will probably need an aerial adaptor and amplifier which you can find on autoleads. As for the double din radios you can get a plastic surround off auto leads which makes it fit tight. Use search to find out there is loads on here

Cheers granta!! My cd player does the job and does look nice!! And was an anniversary present from the Mrs so feel i should install it. Why would i need an amp though? I know id need an adaptor. And then would just install a cubby hole trim instead.

Double din screens are on the cards though, but not with sat nav, im quite tight so it would be a dvd player tops haha

U will need an aerial amp because the reception won't be good :( I haven't got one yet and my radio strength is quite poor so am looking at getting one. It's a kenwood double din DVD system. The radio tuner does work but the reception crackles and goes dim.
