Removing old front suspension strut
« on: 05 April 2011, 22:04 »
Hi all. After successfully removing the passenger side. I got severly stumped on the drivers side. The suspension are drops about 2 inches less than the other side.

Since had a read up on a guide and it seemed the case on that one. Is this true for all 1.8t's?
Anyway to do it, or does it have to be spring clamps or droppping the subframe?

Can anyone point me towards the bolts to drop the subframe?

Cheers
Kev

just wind the spring compressors up a bit more and push the shock up and out, works for me

The smaller amount of travel is down to the driveshaft

Drivers side was always a twit to remove on mine and Dave's golfs   Bear in mind that Dave works on buses so is used to removing far bigger suspension components!

undo the droplink and just keep using a hammer on the hub and watch the it drop away from the shockabsorber
