MK4 audio install and advise
« on: 26 March 2005, 11:19 »
Hi all, i have just purchased a MK4.
I have stereo equipment from my previous car (seat Ibiza (R.I.P)) I understand that all of the equipment will fit straight in but what do you recommend i install.
current spec:
Alpine CDA-7893R (HU)
Alpine MRVF-407 (AMP)
Pyle PLA-1285 (AMP)
Alpine SPR-176A (6.5")
Alpine SPR-694A (6x9")
Alpine 12" Sub (1000w)

A couple of Q's!
With the HU, what wires do i need to connect to the back of the HU to make it 4v pre out and 60w?
Is the Pyle amp, a Pyle of $&%^e ?
If i change the Pyle i would like to keep it Alpine amp but which one would power the sub perfectly?
Any other Audio recommendations welcome?

Once the install is done I'll post pic's.

alright.. thats all sound ok...
i agree that pyle arn't the best amps by a fair way... if u want to power subs then a class D mono amp is best, there more efficient than normal ones so louder for the watts and as well sound better..
www.caraudiocentre.co.uk is a good place to start... i reccomend the legacy 3090, its £250 and is pretty sweet, thats what i'm using.. better than Vibe which they also sell but they tend to get hot to quickly.

                        the headunit....
                                             think of it like this.
the pre outs mean before  (pre) amplification so its a line level output which is where the volts come in as it is measured in volts not watts. the watts are the on board amp and it will be 50watts max and 25 rms which is not adequate for any decent sound quality or volume.
so if your headunit said it was a 4V output then thats what will come out of the pre outs, and sub out as well.
hope this helps and that you get it all sorted soon.. also 6x9's weve been discussing that in the ice bible... it steels the air from the sub or the sub steels the air from the6x9's.. so neither works at full potential.... better off putting componants in both doors and getting some dynamat.... i've just got a 306 with that in the boot.. can't wait to hear the differnce...
it's only £15 for a door kit of dynamat....
sombody offer me a job in car audio!

So let me get this straight... get rid of the 6x9's and put some more Alpine components is the read door cards, sounds like a plan, but is it not a mission to get the speakers in to the door cads.

I'm a really big fan of Alpine (reliable), what Amp should i get to run the sub?
will the 407 be powerful enough to run both sets of components?

Anyone got any install advise for getting the door cards on and off with out damaging them?

on my mk 3 you get a flat screw driver ands the speaker grilles pop off.. might be different... just ask your local car shop maybe or invest in a haynes manual.
