system advice for my mk1
« on: 24 February 2005, 23:33 »
Hi all

Ive just got myself a mk1 campaign and am looking to install a half decent system without cutting anything!

I had in mind a Pioneer DEH-P77MP HU as i love the simple looks,

JMB P6452's in the front doors as a direct replacement for the standard 6x4 speakers run by a kicker 75.2 amp at 2x30 RMS

and something like a JBL GT4-12 SUB in an enclosed box run by a GTO 75.2

(no rear speakers)

As I know pretty much naff all about ICE any help would be good

cheers, Steve.

the 77MP is an awesome headunit! one of a kind. The quality and power are in a league of their own! good choice.

As for front speakers I'd try and build some pods to take a 17cm mid-range driver. That will give you a better bass responce in the front. Running them off an amp is always a better option than the headunit, but then again with that headunit...

take your pick with a sub. there are a million out there. If you want some serious bass the new MTX range are awesome. They cleaned up last year in america in every compotion out there setting a couple of world records at the same time! If you look on their site they recommend which amp to use to run the various single, dual and triple sub setups they offer coming in 10", 12" and 15" flavors.
