New starter motor/ alternator

Looking at spending even more cash on the girl
Anyone know how much a new starter motor and alternator will put me back, and if they are still available at VW or even TPS...

Are you sure that the alternator is knackered?

9 times out of 10 you just need to replace the voltage regulator if it fails or the brushes are worn.

TBH nor 100% certain where the fault lies, but just getting some ideas and price guilds so I can sort it asap, don't like her sitting there doing nothing even thou it is a second car, please see my other post asking for ideas to the problem posted yesterday... Thank you

dont be spending that much ffs! as said are you sure this is the problem, scrappy trip for starter for sure!

New alternator from GSF Bosch around 50 incl VAT - starter motor GSF Bosch 91 incl VAT (at 15%) - both on 'exchange'.

Don't forget to get a new bush for the starter motor where it fits into the gear box housing - I think GSF ones come with it. You should replace the alternater belt whilst you are at it as well.

Hope the weather is good for you when you do the job, -10 degrees is not pleasant!!!
