Cars don't detonate instantly like in the movies, they do take a fair while to burn, so if you can catch it early enough - you might well get away with saving your pride and joy!

thats not always the case...
friends camero caught fire due to some faulty wiring to his stereo and it took literally under a minute for the flames to get about 4-6 feet above the car. almost burn him and his girl alive. :shocked:

i was driving a 3 month old range rover that caught fire scary! nothing was going to stop it it went up like firework once the fire got through the bulkhead, the way the interior burnt was mad. thank god it wasnt mine it was my bosses.

I have a rather large extinguisher in the passeger well.

As said before do not open the bonnet to an engine fire! Take it from underneath.

It's only tin and rubber.  Carrying a fire extinguisher is nearly as dangerous as carrying pepper spray - you're going to be tempted to use it and it's almost inevitably going to get you in trouble.

Get out early and get out fast and that's from a trained fire-marshal.  :grin:
