Advice on FLI amp&sub
« on: 27 September 2010, 19:56 »
Hi guys

like my previous cars ive decided to go for another amp&sub boot install

i have been looking at this FLI twin 12" sub with built in amp

http://www.caraudioni.ie/images/fli%20twin%20active.jpg

Its around £200, and was just wondering if theyre any good in terms of quality?

also its 930mm long, will this fit ok in the boot ive not measured it yet!

And are they that hard to wire up? my lasts ones ive paid a garage to do it but i have been quite handy lately with DIY jobs so i may feel confident to give this a go myself.

over and out.  :nerd:

Also whats the difference between an "Active" sub and a normal one, does it just mean the active sub has a built in amp?

would this be easier than buying one with a seperate amp?

i cant wait to get my bass back

Hi mate

I have the original 12" twin trap in the boot of my mk3 so i would have thought it will fit fine in the mk4

Easy to wire up if you think about it before hand - make sure you run the power lead down the opposite side to the RCA cables. Also i found it easier to run the remote lead the same side as the RCA's.
Make sure that you have a good wiring kit - I have always used a kit that has a glass fuse (personal preference) which will also have a thicker gauge cable.

Yes you are correct on the Active amp bit - The amp is built in to the back of the unit on the fli so all the wires can be tucked away!

If you need any help give me a shout and i can talk you through any of it!

Cheers
Mitch

fli audio is to be honest rubbish just there to make noise its cheap for a reason you`ll end up replacing it a few times

I've heard a few fli systems and weren't impressed to be honest.

I would always choose something else in it's place, but that's just me.

Jbl are king of budget gear. Amazing BFM (bass for money).

theres always better than fli for the same price range

vibe itself is reasonaly cheap for what it is, and you get what you pay for, but fli is lower quality than that, as mentioned, jbl is better for the same price

to add, active subs are a piece of p*ss to wire up, it all depends what youre after

You'd be better off Not buying active you'll have more choice. All an active amp is, is an amp attached to the sub box.
