a bit of advice pleeeaaassseee

guys i have a mk4 20v turbo and want a oldskool golf so im going to buy a mk1 golf cabriolet  but i want   a 20v turbo engine putting in it  is this hard to do ? i have all winter to do it and a barn to work in !  ready for the summer shows!

from the threads ive read putting in the engine itself isnt particularly hard, a bit of fabrication for mounts is required. the hard part comes with the wiring. if you use stand alone management its a bit easier and qpeng do a complete plug n play kit. if you use original ecu then you have the immobiliser issues which can be a nightmare. with stand alone you are going to have costs in mapping the engine/ rolling road time. other problems arise if your going to use a cable change gearbox, but there are solutions out there you just have to search.
have a look on the mk1oc website there's afew peeps done this conversion  :wink:

cheers buddy im going to have a crack at it whatever  and yes i was thinking about the ecu the outherday . i asked about some mates and got a contact that does the standalone " plug n play system "  ill  check out the threads

It is better if you can to run the factory managment setup.
