Worth pointing out this sub doesn't need to go in the boot, can fit under a seat if you like.

I did try it under the seat, but couldn't quite get it to fit nicely as the seat has to slide forward (mk5 3 door).

Anyway, I elected to go for fixing the unit to the back of the single rear seat. I took the wiring under the rear seat, fished it though to the centre console (which came out with a few torx screws) and then took it up to the HU.

I spoke to a VW technician mate of mine and he recommended earthing it in the boot and taking power from the ignition fuse box. I'm going to tap into the speaker wires using scotchloks.

That is if I ever get an hour to finish it.   :embarassed:
