Yes my GTD handbook pouch looks like leather but it doesn't smell of leather, probably synthetic. A nice feature is the storage shelf on top of the glovebox.

Just went to check mine. It has a flap cover with an embossed VW logo. Whether it is leather I cannot say. Very cheap looking if it is. More like leatherette.

Leather binder and GTI branded on mine picked up July 2009.
Snap   Have you had the first service yet ?(the car)

Yes car was serviced last week, sailed through with no problems and cost me nothing due to the service plan.
Have you had yours done yet?  mind you my car has only done 5600 miles.

Mine is at about the same mileage as yours i also paid for the service pack so will have to book it in soon, funny how the dealers dont contact you when you have already paid for the service
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

Yes you're right they' re a bit sloppy that way!! quick enough to take your money though.  Still get that great feeling every time I get behind the wheel even though I've only done 5000+ miles.  It is a great car.

When you had the service pack what info did they give you?

When I picked mine up they gave me a sheet with my detail on and conditions sheet. Talking to other VW users they had the official documents through the post but they say it can tack 4 months for this to arrive.

I got the documents when i picked up the car, they also sent out duplicate documents about a month later for some reason, mine is due its first service as its just over a year old now but still low mileage,i will have to ring them and arrange to get it done when i have time.

They needed the car for 2 hours, but were very good at giving me a lift in to Scarborough and then picking me up again when the car was ready.
