They dropped a nut down the inlet pipe when changing the maf sensor which chewed up the turbo impellors. Fitted a new turbo out of my own pocket since they wouldn't take responsibilty due to the other aftermarket parts on my car.
There's a follow-up thread on here somewhere.

coil packs r coverd for 5 years or 1 million miles warranty i know because i work on vw for a living

is it just for the 1.8 T or for 2L as well, that were born in '99?

Pretty sure it was just the turbos. All dealers can tell you what recall work has been done/needs doing to your car though if you're concerned. All they need is your registration.

I had a recall letter about the vacuum hose on my brakes bout a year ago, and i managed to get it in it didn't cost me a thing, R plate TDI so it must be common on petrol and diesels. it took about 45 mins as well.
