no joy for me. Left the drivers door open turned key in ignition, but not turned over, waited for it to stop buzzing then started it up. Didn't work for me

Does it not only work for the first time after cleaning ??  You have started the car since and confused it. Try disconnecting the plug and leave it half an hour or so then reconnect the plug and try the door open and ignition on thing. Should solve the problem then Mate.    Good Luck

i had the exact same problem mate, drove for about 200 odd miles and the idle was still around 1.5k.
i tried everything, in the end i just disconnected the battery, left it for about an hour, reconnected and everything was fine! now idling about 900
