Just after a wee bit o' advice.

I have a MK2 Golf GTi 8v, It has a 2.0L bottom end from a MK3 (not sure which engine code, but can find out) and a 1.8 K-Jet head.

Just set timing up dead on with marks on gearbox, marks on crankshaft pulley are also showing dead on. The car runs like crap ie, well under powered. I have just retarded the timing, roughly about 6-8 degrees and power has returned but pinking slightly.
Just wondering if anyone knows what the timing should be set at?

£10 says the K-sh*t is running lean which is why it's pinking
