What I'd do is find the starter motor and bridge the two big terminals together. Do not touch ANYTHING else metal and see if it turns.

Find it odd it's at 10v though.

Ok well, not sure how you did the jump start but why not swap the battery completely and try your mates battery?  taking it that he turned up in his own car to do the jump start etc..
If there's something wrong in the chain from your own battery then jumping from another vehicle isn't likely to help.. you need to try and work as a process of elimination if you can,

Its going to have to be tomorrow before i try anything now as i have to go to work. Most probaly will have to get a mechanic in as i really need the car up and running. One friend has suggested that its my immobiliser. The car has a code alarm on it, but there are no details on what the model is ? Thanks for your help chaps. Very much appreciated

Yep ok..welcome too,
It could be the immobiliser messing things up but bear in mind a battery showing only 10volts is a problem in itself, not many vehicles are going to start/turn over in that condition..
See how you go anyway..

Just an update chaps. Took the car or should i say towed the car to a garage today. Early prognosis is that it could well be the immobiliser. Will keep you all updated on the ongoing saga.

Thanks again for all your technical expertise
