1.8t timing chain tensioner rattle
« on: 08 April 2010, 21:10 »
i have a 1.8t passat and the timing chain has been rattling so i changed the tensioner and did an oil and filter change today
and it still rattles
the rattle is between 1600 and 2600 rpm when revving then clears till you let off and as the revs drop they return around 2600 rpm down to 1600 rpm then it goes again
has anyone changed their tensioner and did yours quieten down straight away or does it take a while
or is it the chain thats knackered
cheers

You mean the cam chain tensioner then? As they use Timing belt for cam --> crank timing.
