But in reference to OP, I've tried both on a K-jet 16v and it seems to make little to no difference unless you have an ECU that will adapt to the octane. As stated newer t/c cars see the biggest differnce, sure there was a 5th gear about it. Otherwise you'd have to setup the engine on higher octane fuel and only run it on that...

Additives = snake oil as far as I can gather.

16v's on 95 can do this

niked from niges thread on northloop, cause was slightly diffrent but effect is the same. just rare to get optimal photos, quite often ppl drive till the piston gives up completly and exits

Alot of subaru drivers carry octane boost around just incase they can't get hold of super unleaded, although as said most new cars will adapt to the fuel you put in.

if the car has a knock sensor it will adapt to the fuel used. If it's made to run on 99RON and you stick 95RON it will adapt but will loose power.

A car made for 95RON will run nicely on 99RON but without HUGE gains, just more smoothness and better top end if anything. Advantages of 99RON is that they usually have addictives in them to help clean the engine on the inside.

What? KR engines or ABF run on 95?

What causes that failure?

So if I started running my '91 digi on 98, would I gain a couple bhp back? Last time I had it rolling road'd, it was only putting out 102bhp. Also, would there be increased mpg?

Mines full of tesco sh!te at the min and i havent seen over 20mpg since getting it back, it runs high 20s on v power
