Thread hijack, apologies!
Do the 5 door Golf's (MK2 in particular) often suffer from this?
My brother's MK2 5 door has a soaking (you can basically splash your hand in it...) O/S rear passenger foot well.
It gets very bad after heavy and persistent rainfall when it's been stood. It doesn't matter what angle the car's parked at, so not sure if it's the same issue the OP has.
Is it a case of checking the polythene screening behind the door card and clearing the door drain holes?
There is also a small gap (about 2cm) in the lower window seal on the outside so water can definately get in there but would this small gap really allow the epic build up of water seen in the foot well? At any rate, if the inner polythene sheet was in perfect, sealed condition (and the drain holes were clear) then it wouldn't matter about the small gap would it?
Do the main rubber door seals leak on these cars? It's the only other thing I think it could be, but the door does seem to shut firmly and it isn't misaligned. Maybe it's been squashed flat over the course of 18 years!
Thanks for any input!
Edit: Just realised I've posted this in a MK3 section I think! I was just searching the forum for help with this problem and didn't think to check before I posted a reply!
Noob error, sorry!
