starting probs
« on: 02 November 2009, 09:52 »
Hi all,

Spent the weekend changing the engine on my PB 8v and now having probs starting.

Tried turninng over last night. Made a bang through the exhaust burning off petrol. Now there is no spark? Guessing that something ain't right but can't see what. Anyone got any ideas please.

Thanks

when changing engines we had to fit the power steeriing pump onto new engine. This involved swapping pulleys which interfered with cambelt. Think it is the timing?

turn the key 1 click, does your fuel pump run for a few seconds or just go continuously? if it just runs constantly, you have blown up your ECU. check the battery earth, this needs a good electrical contact to the gearbox or box mounting bracket, or your ecu will die.

It sounds like you have put the spark plug leads on in the wrong order, it happened to someone else same day - hence the groundhoglyness.
