mk3 glof gti 8v

Hi all, been reading forums for while and decided to ask for help, i have a 96 golf gti 8v and recently it had no power over half throttle so i replaced to maf sensor and it brilliant, well for an 8v, lol.
but now i only getting 23 mpg if i only touch the throttle, can any one shed any ideas as i out of ideas, and petrol.

and the idle also occasionaly become erratic and wants to stall but dosnt at times, also how do i upload pics of my car for peeps to see.

Thanks for advice, mine does 23 when booting it, and about 30 mpg when being careful, is this normal?

Yes, my 8v was around the same did better on a long run however.

I'm getting about 33mpg booting it, and if I'm careful can get over 40.......but silly careful, know what I mean......? Averages around 35 between fillups

i took the 8v out for the first time since getting back from afghan in sept.. i did a run from swansea to yorkshire and pulled a 44mpg av. on the mfa.. i did 70 all the way though..
